Gas Furnaces
If You Pay a Gas Bill, You Most Likely have a Gas Heating Unit, Called a Furnace. If You Don’t Pay a Gas Bill You May have an Electric Heater, Called an Air Handler. Heat Pumps usually Depend on Electric Heat as Emergency Heat, and also Run Electric Heat During the Defrost Cycle.
In Certain Situations, There Are A Few Gas Furnaces That Would be Best to Replace. One Brand that Went Out of Business Around the Year 2000, was Consolidated Brand. They went out of business due to Manufacturing Design Flaws. They Had a 10 year Heat Exchanger Warranty. Yet Most of their Heat Exchangers Would Fail Before that 10 years Was Up! Causing Harmful Carbon Monoxide to get into your Breathing Air. So, If You Have a Consolidated Furnace, You Should xRealize Your Likelihood For Carbon Monoide Is Huge! At Minimal, Have A Heat Check Up Every Year Before Operating Your Gas Furnace. Your Heater Can Heat Just Fine, While It Destroys Your Heath.
Carbon Monoxide is often called the Silent Killer. Because the victims never even knew they were breathing (CO). Carbon Monoxide is a Poisonous Gas That is Odorless, and Invisible. Permanent Health Issues Can Come From Carbon Monoxide. Soft Tissues of the Heart and Brain Can Be Damaged. Heart Attacks and Strokes Can Even Occur. At Certain Levels, Carbon Monoxide is Deadly to Humans, Birds and other Pets. That’s one reason Canaries were brought down into the Mines. So if the Bird Dropped, It would Signal The Mine Workers To Get Out Quick. Symptoms can be mild, yet pose Health Risks. Symptoms also Mimic so many Other illnesses, that even a Doctor May Not Get the Right Diagnosis unless Carbon Monoxide Poisoning is suspected and Tested For. Instead of the Flue, It Could Be Your Flue Pipe Gassing Your Home and everyone in it. Winter Safety is Nothing to Leave To Chance.
This Old Style Goodman Furnace Had a Clam shell 2 Piece Heat Exchanger Design. These Heat Exchangers Used to Go Out. The Newer Models After Goodman Bought Amana, Have Tubular Muffler Pipe Style Heat Exchangers That are One of the Best Heat Exchangers Around.

Electric Central Heating Units
Electric Central Heating Units are often Called an Air Handler or Airhandler. Most include the Evaporator Coil inside the Electric Heating Unit.
Electric Central Heating Units Don’t Use Gas. So Some Consumers Think Of Them As Safe. Not So! Just Ask Your Fire Department How Many Fires Electric Heaters Cause Each Year. Lots of Unnecassary Deaths Happen Around Survivors Left to Wish They had gotten a Pre-Season Heat Check.
Lots of Electric Heat Problems are not Noticeable until it Suddenly Gets Colder. That’s When Heating Contractors Are Overwelmed, and Unable to Get to So Many People at one time So Some end up Waiting For Days, after previously Thinking Their System Was Heating Just Fine, Before it got Really Cold.
Small Parts are Usually the Cause of One or More of Your Electric Heating Elements Failing to Come On. With Only One or Two Elements Still Usable. At 60 Degrees Outside Temperature, You Can’t Always Tell You Have a Problem. Assuming Could End Up Freezing You, and Those You Have To Hear Complain!
One of the Causes of Electric Heat Failure is Restricted Air Flow. This can be caused by too many vents being closed off. But More Commonly, Air Gets Restricted By A Dirty Evaporator Coil. Your Elements and Other Parts Depend on Normal Air Flow to Not Burn Out From Overheating. Checking and Cleaning Your Evaporator Coil is Very Important, Before the Damage is Done.
This is Called a Furdown Airhandler. Notice The Electric Heat Components and The Double Blower Wheels
Electric Airhandler With Trunkline Ductwork
Next is a Vertical Mount Evaporator Coil in an Electric Heat AirHandler. The Airflow is Very Restricted By Dirt. I Would Expect their Electrical Bill in the Cooling Season, Must have been Huge. Possibly Having to Run Twice as Long To Get The Total Cubic Feet of Air in That House Through this Cooling Coil Before It Would Shut Off!
This Air Blockage Greatly Slows Down the Amount of Air Required to Keep The Hot Electric Heating Elements From Overheating To the Point that the Elements Could Burn Out. Or Other Small Parts Could Fail. Causing A Repair Bill and Down Time!
This is a No Brainer Isn’t It. Preventive Maintenance vs. I hear it all the time: “My System is Working Just Fine.”How would you Know without a Heat Check Up?
Paying a little now can save you from paying a lot more later. Plus with everyone cold and unhappy, You won’t be able to be happy.
Next is what a Normal Evaporator Coil Should Look Like. You Can See the Fins and Tubes That in Cool Mode Absorb the Heat From Your Summer Days Into Your Freon (Refrigerant) That Circulates Through your Evaporator Cooling Coil and then Goes Outside for Your Compressor To Dissipate Same Heat To The Outdoor Air Through The Condensing Coil Inside Your Condensing Unit.

This is the Blower Wheel That Pulls your Homes Air Through Your Air Filter, and Through Your Evaporator Cooling Coil in Your Indoor Unit’s Heater. It is Hard to See How Much Dirt Is In This Picture, Until You Look at the Picture Bellow After it was Cleaned.
Look at the Size of the Dirt Pile, Compared to the Size of the Blower Wheel. Wow! That’s a Lot of Dirt. It Could Not Have Possibly Been Blowing Much Air. And they were Breathing This Stuff.

This is Another Veiw of the Same Airhandler. Showing It has a Split Evaporator Coil and 2 Expansion Valves.
